Welcome to Trout Lake
Fishing

the Ultimate Angler’s Adventure
This isn’t just another lake; up here, the fish stories are almost as legendary as the catches themselves. If you’re looking for a real fishing adventure, you’ve hit the jackpot. Battle the mighty walleye in the hidden reefs. Troll for monster lake trout in the depths. Trout Lake is where true anglers come to test their mettle.
Tucked away on a rugged peninsula, our fish camp is a true gateway to a wild aquatic frontier. With the Sakwite River providing a perfect shelter on breezy days and a treasure trove of walleye at your fingertips—especially near the majestic Sakwite Waterfalls a few miles upstream—you’re in for a real adventure.

It’s more than a fishing trip; it’s an expedition.
Stretching more than 10 miles in every direction, the lake explodes into a maze of sheltered channels, hundreds of islands, and secretive bays; the perfect spot for explorers. Endless variations mean quiet shallow bays that lead to areas over 160 feet deep, creating a dramatic underwater landscape where walleye and lake trout thrive in close quarters—perfect for those who want their reels screaming and rods bending.
Gear up for some serious action

Walleye
The walleye here aren’t just fish; they’re beasts, with trophies over 30 inches waiting to challenge your skills. The smallmouth bass? Fierce and feisty, with plenty tipping the scales at 2-4 pounds and the occasional brute pushing past 5. And the northern pike—stealthy predators that haunt the lake’s rich structures, are usually game to provide a heart-pounding fight.

Lake Trout
Summer is these deep-water warriors domain, where trolling deep-diving crankbaits along precipitous drop-offs might just reward you with a behemoth tipping the scales at 5 pounds and up. New to the lake trout game? Trout Lake is the battleground where you’ll forge your reputation.
Most of our guests chase walleye as their primary gamefish. And they are evenly split in their opinion of jigs vs spinners. So pick your lucky color jig or grab a couple of packs of Lucky Joes. Either way, tip them with minnows and your gold. As an added service our friend Vic is usually able to deliver live minnows to camp. Inquire about placing your bait order with your reservation.
But what truly sets this place apart is the solitude. With fewer than a handful of outposts on our protected lake and accessible only by fly-in, you’re in a pristine wilderness where the water is teeming with fish instead of fishermen. It’s just you, the wild, and the next big catch.
Our slice of paradise isn’t just another fishing spot; it’s a proving ground for serious anglers. With its diverse terrain—from mid-lake humps to reefs—all nourished by the life-giving waters of two major river systems, every cast could be the one that lands you in the record books. Navigate this immense aquatic arena with confidence. Our traditional outpost boats and detailed lake maps, along with tips on “where they’re biting” will lead you to adventure and get you home safely before dark.
Trout Lake is ready to blow your expectations out of the water
Whether you’re a seasoned angling veteran or a bold newcomer, it is an experience like no other. So “take the bait”, channel your inner beast and head to Trout Lake, where every day is yours to conquer. Are you ready to claim your place among the legends of Trout Lake? Let’s find out.

Sustainable Fishing:
Bringing the Adventure Home
We understand that the thrill of the catch often extends beyond our shores. Many of our guests cherish the tradition of sharing their catch with family and friends back home. That’s why we fully support the Sportsman’s license, which accommodates larger possession limits for just this purpose.
As avid conservationists, we also believe in the responsibility of sustainable fishing. We take pride in our practices, adhering to the principle of keeping only what we need—and what we intend to enjoy at our tables. This way, we hope to ensure that the spectacular wilderness of Trout Lake continues to thrive for generations of anglers to come.
About the lake
Otukamamoan Lake (known as Trout Lake to the locals) is truly an unspoiled piece of Northwoods paradise. Within a protected wilderness area, there are no roads that access the lake. (That means you need to fly your way in!) Luckily, it takes less than 30-minutes to fly into Trout Lake from Fort Frances, Ontario (which is located right across the border from International Falls, Minnesota).
This awe-inspiring lake of ours is approximately 10 miles long and 12 miles wide, with over 200 miles of shoreline, numerous bays, inlets, and islands. Additionally, the lake is a deep, cold-water lake with rock reefs providing the perfect fish habitat. It is populated with an incredible amount of trophy walleye, northern pike, lake trout, and smallmouth bass, making it the ultimate fishermen’s venue
Don’t hesitate! Trout Lake’s trophy-sized fish are awaiting you!
