CANADIAN FLY-IN FISHING OUTPOST IN ONTARIO
Your Wild Retreat Awaits!
Dedicated wilderness area. No roads. Off grid. Unplugged.

Welcome to Trout Lake Lodge!
We’re glad you’re taking the first step to find wilderness fishing at its best. Your first view of Trout Lake Lodge and Cabins will be out the window of a float plane. It appears to emerge from a narrow granite peninsula on the rugged north end of Otukamamoan Lake. Think Boundary Waters without the crowds, with silent solar power and beds instead of tents. Our guests come for the quiet and often return for endless adventure, ditching city clamor for the serene whispers of the wilderness. The pines stand tall like sentinels whispering their secrets when the lake breezes blow. The air is so crisp it snaps.
Imagine waking up...
to the loons calling across the water, and deciding if you’ll rise to see the sunrise or wait for somebody else to get the coffee on first. Our camp boasts a prime spot on a sprawling peninsula where the Sakwite River merges with the lake, crafting a scene so secluded it feels like your own private island. With your boat docked on the river and a sweeping 10-mile view from our float plane dock, each morning unveils new panoramas and fresh adventures.

Our cabins
Strike a perfect harmony between rugged and refined. Decked out with all the essentials, they offer a taste of home without skimping on the wild charm. With a boat for every two guests, you’re in charge—fish at dawn or unwind until dusk. Whether you’re here to boast about your angler prowess or relish the quiet of an early morning, Trout Lake caters to your pace.
The journey to our lodge is an adventure in itself, a scenic float plane ride from Fort Frances, Ontario. It’s just you and the boundless wild, accessible solely from the skies. Consider it your VIP pass to serenity—and a fishery so untouched, it feels like the first cast.
What truly sets Trout Lake apart is its vibe—easygoing, welcoming, and utterly genuine. It’s about savoring starlit nights by the fire pit, where tales of the day’s catch grow as big as the smiles. Whether you’re in for the thrill or in need of peace, the hidden treasures of life on Trout Lake are ready for discovery.
So, are you ready to exchange your daily grind for a slice of lakeside paradise? We thought so. Trout Lake is calling. This is the kind of place where each day is yours to shape, and trust us, you’ll want to savor every moment. We’re here, cabins are prepped, the fish are biting—what’s holding you back?
Meet Your Host, Mark Poss
Mark Poss isn’t just your host; he’s your seasoned advisor on all things Trout Lake, having first cast his line in these waters as a college kid back in 1983. With over 40 years of navigating this lake, Mark knows every hidden reef and submerged rock—many discovered through his own accidental adventures. His expertise on Trout Lake is nearly as deep as the waters he fishes.
The legend doesn’t stop with Mark. His father-in-law, Arlin, is a true pioneer of the lake, having patrolled these waters for over half a century. Arlin is part of the storied crew that fought to have Otukamamoan Lake recognized as part of an official wilderness area, safeguarding its pristine condition for the thrill-seekers of tomorrow.
For Mark and his family, Trout Lake isn’t just a place—it’s a legacy. When you join Mark at Trout Lake Lodge, you’re stepping into a story, decades in the making, filled with passion and a deep commitment to the great outdoors.
